If you’re struggling with dry, bumpy skin, and nothing has worked, you’re not alone. In this video, I’m sharing new insights from Dr. Berg’s research on coconut oil and dry skin, and showing how my daily routine using organic, cold-pressed coconut oil has helped many of my customers with keratosis pilaris (KP) finally feel confident in their skin again.
While I don’t treat KP specifically, I’ve had countless women over 40 tell me that our coconut oil polish and mango butter crème made a visible difference where prescription creams and exfoliators failed.
Special thanks to Dr. Berg for highlighting the deeper connection between dry skin and KP.

Why Dr. Berg’s Research Matters
Dr. Berg’s article explores how dry skin can be the root cause of keratosis pilaris, especially when your skin barrier is compromised. This matches what I’ve seen firsthand: when women consistently nourish their skin with rich, natural oils, those bumpy patches begin to fade. And it doesn’t take an elaborate 10-step routine to make it happen.
What Causes Keratosis Pilaris?
KP is caused by a buildup of keratin that plugs the hair follicles, creating rough, textured patches on the arms, thighs, or buttocks. But many triggers make it worse—especially for women with sensitive or aging skin:
- Vitamin A deficiency
- Cold or dry weather
- Using harsh soaps
- Lack of deep moisture
That’s why I’m passionate about helping women simplify their skincare—and focus on barrier repair, not stripping the skin.
Coconut Oil for KP: How It Works
Organic coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing properties. It softens keratin plugs, reduces dryness, and helps restore the skin’s natural barrier, exactly what’s needed to improve the texture and tone of KP-prone skin.
That’s why it’s the star ingredient in my Organic Coconut Oil Face & Body Polish. It’s gentle, non-stripping, and deeply nourishing—especially when followed with our Mango Butter Crème.
My Customers’ Daily Routine for Smooth, Healthy Skin
Here’s the 2-step method many women with KP have used to transform their skin:
Step 1: Exfoliate with Coconut Oil Polish
Use in the shower on damp skin. Gently massage it into arms, legs, or any dry, bumpy areas. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Step 2: Moisturize with Mango Butter Crème
While skin is still slightly damp, apply a small amount of the crème to seal in hydration. This helps soften the skin without greasiness or residue.
Used daily, this routine supports the skin barrier, improves texture, and boosts hydration, especially during colder months when flare-ups tend to worsen.
Not All Coconut Oil Is Created Equal
For best results, make sure the coconut oil you use is:
- Virgin
- Cold-pressed
- Organic
- Unrefined
This is the quality we use in the Peppermint & Coconut Organic Coconut Oil Face and Body Polish.
Other Tips That Help with KP
In this video, I also share a few other practices that can support smoother, calmer skin:
- Dry brushing (done gently)
- Choosing soap with nourishing oils
- Avoiding long, hot showers
- Using a humidifier to maintain moisture in the air
- Staying consistent with your routine
